What issues need to be paid attention to in mold management?

2024-01-15

Mold management can be roughly divided into three different parts, namely mold development, mold use and mold maintenance. Therefore, for effective management of molds, we can start from the process to improve the management issues of each part.

First of all, in terms of mold development, it is necessary to set up a mold development team and appoint project managers, project designers, and liaison persons to monitor the entire development process.

Hold a mold development meeting to discuss product characteristics, steel types, mold life, accuracy requirements, mechanical specifications, impact of finished product shape on the mold, evaluation of development time, etc. Through these management methods, companies can not only obtain more accurate evaluations, but also Able to train new employees through mutual communication;

At the same time, companies must monitor the actual progress of the project. For example, use project monitoring tools to predict and calculate the actual progress schedule, compare the actual progress of the project with the planned progress, correct any errors that deviate from the plan, and make appropriate responses in a timely manner to group production into sub-sections, such as using different masters to be responsible for wire cutting, Processing, polishing, heat treatment, etc.;

This not only makes it easier to train technical employees, but also eliminates the need to rely on one or two talents with comprehensive skills, thus reducing the loss of brain drain. But in this process, the instructions for the process must be standard and clear. In addition, faced with the constraints of short order lead times, some tasks can also be outsourced so that the company can concentrate resources on its core work.

Secondly, in terms of the use of molds, attention should be paid to the difficulties often encountered in extraction, mold installation and trial testing, manufacturing, and recycling. For example, the mold cannot be found or the mold is damaged and cannot be used; after mold installation and trial testing, it is found that the mold needs repair; manufacturing They did not pay attention to the fact that the life of the mold had expired, which affected the product quality; the status of the used mold was not recorded, which delayed the production deadline when it was used again in the future.

For these problems, it is necessary to record the usage status and information of the mold every time, because recording the number of stamping times of the mold is very helpful in evaluating the life of the mold. At the same time, we implement regular or quota maintenance treatments to determine whether repairs are needed based on the condition. We provide mold usage data to allow customers to evaluate the impact of molds on product quality and decide whether new molds need to be built.

In addition, the management of molds entering and exiting the warehouse must be unified, and a dedicated person must be responsible for borrowing and returning molds. All entries and exits must be recorded and signed for.

Finally, in terms of mold maintenance, independent records should be made for each mold. The molds should also have independent folders to record all changes and status that have been made, such as the life of the mold, the status of the mold, including abnormal loss. situation; the molds must also be clearly classified, such as hardware, die-casting, plastic, etc.

In addition, a maintenance plan must be developed to conduct regular maintenance and management of the mold, thereby reducing the risk of damage and reducing maintenance costs.
