Mould industry leads the world in output value

2020-05-10
After more than half a century of development, China's die and mould industry has greatly improved and developed rapidly. Generally speaking, the development of die design and manufacturing technology in China has gone through the embryonic stage of manual workshop manufacturing, the rapid development of industrial production, product competition stage and brand competition stage of modern production.

With the development of automotive industry by more than 20%, the number of die enterprises and die products entering the automotive field has increased significantly compared with the previous year. Automobile enterprises have also put forward higher requirements for the quality of die products, prompting die enterprises to step up improvement and constantly improve the level. At the same time, due to the substantial growth of die exports, it also greatly promotes the improvement of die level.

According to the data of the National Bureau of Statistics, the total output value of China's mould industry has increased from 136.731 billion yuan in 2010 to 250.994 billion yuan in 2017. However, during 2010-2016, China's mold production fluctuated. In 2016, China's mold production was about 17.23 million sets, 0.5% less than the same period last year.

Change Trend of Industrial Output Value of Mould Industry in 2010-2017

According to the analysis report of China Mold Industry Development Prospect Forecast and Investment Strategic Planning issued by Prospective Industry Research Institute, there are about 30,000 mould factories and about 1 million employees in China. In 2016, the total sales of molds in China reached 180 billion yuan. From 2013 to 2015, the annual compound growth rate of total sales of die and mould in China reached 6.1%. It is estimated that the total sales of die and mould in China will reach 200 billion yuan in 2018 and 218.8 billion yuan in 2020.

China, the United States, Japan, Germany, South Korea and Italy are the world's leading producers of injection moulds and stamping moulds. Among them, China's mould output value is the highest in the world. Comparing and analyzing the distribution of the die Market in the world's major die manufacturing countries, the demand of automobile industry is the largest, accounting for about 34%; the demand of electronic industry is about 28%; the demand of IT industry is about 12%; the demand of household appliances industry is about 9%; the demand of OA automation industry is about 4%; the demand of semiconductor industry is about 4%; and the demand of other industries is about 9%.

Although China's die and mould industry has entered the fast lane of development, it still can not meet the needs of China's manufacturing industry development because of the large gap in accuracy, life, manufacturing cycle and capacity compared with the international level and advanced industrial countries. Especially in the field of precision, large, complex and long-life die, the demand is still in short supply. Therefore, a large number of imports are needed every year.
